Uganda - A Case Study
The Republic of Uganda is an East African country surrounded by The Sudan, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It gained independence in 1962 after being a British protectorate since 1893. Before the British invaded there were a number of seperate Ugandan Kingdoms and, in typical colonial style, they were all grouped together to form a new country. After independence the old ethnic animosities re-surfaced and caused big problems for the country including civil war., governments using traditional tribal disputes to their own advantage, and foreign investors being reluctant to invest in a violent country |
