  • * Antique Maps and Prints
    Antique prints and antique maps can make a fascinating subject for collecting, whether they be of your local area, somewhere you have visited or where your ancestors lived. This site is run by a company selling maps, and images of most of its map collection are available online. If you want to browse through images of old maps, this is a good source of pictures.

    * Concentration and Death Camps Map
    This map identifies the main concentration and death camps in Europe during the Nazi Holocaust

    * FEEFHS Map Room
    This collection of maps concentrates on nineteenth century Eastern Europe. The maps seem to have been scanned from an atlas published in 1882.

    * Heritage Antique Map Museum
    The Heritage Map Museum sells maps from the 15th to the 19th century. Amongst the information about auctions and buying maps, there are online catalogues containing over a hundred images of ancient maps and charts.

    * Historical Atlas Resource Library
    These maps trace the growth of the Roman Empire, its trade routes, natural resources and cities. The site is 'enhanced' with shockwave and, in my experience can be rather slow, even if you ignore the shockwave additions.

    * Historical Maps
    A good selection of historical maps covering the world. The images tend to be rather large and may take a while to download.

    * Maps Online
    The Yale Map Library has a well known collection of maps from around the world, and this site provides online access to many of their better maps.

    * Rare Map Collection
    The Hargrett Rare Books and Manuscripts Library is at the University of Georgia. It offers hundreds of historical maps covering the last 500 years.

    * World War II Maps
    Black and white maps of the European and Pacific theatres of war between 1924 and 1944.
